2009 Team Information

The NY Midgets play approximately 25 league games per year, along with 3 exhibition games and frequent weekend practices.  In addition, we attend between two and five tournaments each year including one major tournament - this season in Youngstown, Ohio.  In total, we expect to play between 40 and 50 games.

The team is coached by myself (NCCP Level 3 certified), my father Glen (partial NCCP Level 3 certified), and the occasional assistant coach who is typically a graduated player from a past year's team.

Since 2005, the North York Midgets have the highest win percentage (season and playoff games) of all the local associations to field a Midget team.  In 2007, the NY Midgets won one tournament, finished as semi-finalists in two other tournaments, came within one run of going to the OBAs, and attended a tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  In 2008, the NY Midgets won the CABA State 18u tournament in Michigan, finished as finalists in the Oshawa tournament, and lost only two (of twenty-four) regular season games.

Typically, the NY Midgets sign between 14 and 16 players.  100% commitment is expected but not completely required.  I understand that there are other important goals (school, work, elite hockey) in your life right now.  We can discuss your individual schedule needs during tryouts.

Players who played with another league team in 2008 will need a release from their previous organization.  Release forms can be obtained from our Documents webpage and need to be signed by your former association.  This is a common process.  If you are in this situation please let me know.

See you in April !

Kevin
