- September 30 - James McNeill ('08) led the
University of Toronto Blues over the Brock Badgers in
an
OUA game this week. James hit a three-run
homerun as UofT won the game 11-1.

fundraiser started!

- September 22 - NY Midgets 2010 defeated the new
Toronto Mets 16u in exhibition on Tuesday night.
Six pitchers held the Mets to a combined three hits.
Marlon recorded three outs on six pitches for the
save.

awards were given out. Congratulations!
- September 19 - NY Midgets lost the last game of
the season against New Era Gold by a 13-2 score.
The tournament semi-finalists had already been
determined. Matt had two hits and callup Quinn
Cumming hit a homerun.

- September 19 - NY Midgets tied against Ottawa
Canadians 1-1 on the strength of a solid six innings
pitched from Andrew Tsiakos.

- September 18 - NY Midgets lost 6-0 to ICBA, the
defending champions, in the second game of the Cannon
Cup tournament. AJ pitched five innings and gave
up only two hits.

- September 18 - NY Midgets tied their first game in
the Cannon Cup against COBA 18u Allstars with a 2-2
score. A homerun in the 5th put COBA ahead
2-1... but NY tied the game in the 6th after Dean
stole second and scored on AJ's single. Only
three COBA outs were recorded via groundballs.

- September 18 - Andrew T., Andrew M., and Justin N.
played in their 50th game this season - breaking the
old NY Midget record set by Randy Back in 2006.
Jerrome pitched in his 18th game this year - tying the
2006 appearances record co-held by Erik Treble and
Chris Gott. Jerrome struck out eight batters and
reached 74 strikeouts on the season - breaking his own
NY Midget record of 73 strikeouts that he set in 2008.

- September 6 - In the middle of a blazing Sunday
afternoon, with Bond Park completely empty of people,
dogwalkers, and cars... Thomas defeated AJ and Broidy
in a lengthy homerun derby on the Bantam diamond.
Thomas received a blue freezie for his victory.
In a sign of the times, AJ and Broidy also received
freezies for participating.

- August 30 - NY Midgets lost the semi-finals of the
OBAs to East York by a 10-8 score in extra innings.
The game was extended after a miscall in
the bottom of the 7th. Dean pitched four
excellent innings in relief of Andrew Z. and Justin N.
East York has not entered the Cannon Cup and NY will
not meet EY in a 10th matchup this
season.

- August 29 - AJ and Jerrome combined for another
stellar pitching gem and Andrew T had a pinch-hit
triple as NY beat Sarnia 5-1 in Round IV of the OBA
tournament. NY has a 3-1 record and plays East
York (who has a 2-1 record by virtue of a Round III
bye) in the final-four of the OBAs at 9:00am at
Concord Regional.

- August 29 - Jerrome singled past a drawn-in
infield in the bottom of the 7th inning to score two
runs and lead NY to a 6-5 victory over Hamilton in
Round III of the OBAs. Brendan pitched 6 2/3
solid innings. NY moves on to play tonight at
8:30pm against Sarnia.

- August 29 - Broidy's single in the bottom of the
6th inning with the bases loaded broke a 3-3 tie in
the NY Midgets' game against Brantford. NY won
the game 5-3 and moved on play the loser of East
York-Hamilton at 3:30pm.

- August 28 - NY Midgets lost their first game of
the OBAs to Tecumseh - 1-0 in 8 innings. AJ and
Jerrome both pitched amazing in a combined effort.
NY next plays the loser of Branford-Niagara Falls on
Saturday morning at 8:00am.

- August 25 - NY Midgets lost the TBA finals 1-0 to
East York in 9 innings. NY gave up only one hit
and both teams had excellent pitching and played
incredible defense.

- August 28 - Good luck to Chris at Carleton
University in Ottawa! Chris ended his NY Midget
season by taking a called third strike on the outside
corner, drawing a line in the dirt, and getting thrown
out of the game.

NY Minor Midgets lost their TBA finals 10-0 to
East York.

- August 23 - East York defeated High Park17 by a
7-0 forfeit after three HP players and three HP
coaches were ejected in the 5th and 6th innings.
EY was winning 7-1 at the time. NY plays EY (in
their eighth matchup of the year) for the TBA Midget
'AA' Championship on Tuesday night at Keelesdale.

- August 22 - The NY Midgets advanced to the TBA
Midget finals on Tuesday night at Keelesdale - and
also advanced to the OBA Midget AA Provincial
tournament next weekend in Vaughan.

playoff games today - 5-1 over Martingrove and 6-2
over East York. Andrew T. pitched a
complete-game two-hitter in the first game... and
Justin S. pitched a complete-game four-hitter in the
second game. AJ reached base in all eight plate
appearances.

- August 22 - Good luck to Justin S. at McGill
University in Montreal! Justin ended his NY
Midget season with an incredible complete-game victory
in a do-or-die playoff game against East York.
Justin's outing was even more impressive considering
there was a 30-minute weather delay in the 5th inning.

- August 13 - The NY Midgets defeated the Toronto
Mets 16u 3-2. Justin S. pitched five
amazing innings and Jerrome pitched two stellar
innings in relief - they combined to strike out 10
Mets batters. The Mets were 10-0 in their TBA
games this season.

- August 8 - Andrew T. won the NY Midgets annual
skills competition - selecting a big bag of chocolate
whoppers as his prize. Brendan finished in
second place and earned a big bag of jelly beans, and
Justin N. finished in third and was given a new pair
of socks. Each player was also given three packs
of
these 1990 baseball cards for participating.

will play three teams from Ohio, as well as teams from
Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.

- July 18 - With
one eye focused on CABA, and the other eye unfocused,
the NY Midgets were destroyed by the Toronto Mets on
Saturday morning. The Mets banged out 20 hits
and limited the NY Midgets to a single run. The
NY Midgets matched their longest losing streak of the
season (two games) but three veteran reinforcements
should provide a stabilizing influence during Sunday's
18u game against the EY Juniors.

- July 17 - NY Midgets got blown out by High Park17
in our worst loss in seven years.
Matt and Broidy pitched in mop-up duty. The NY
Midgets are stumbling to the end of a stretch of 11
games in 12 days and face the unbeaten Toronto Mets
(6-0) on Saturday morning.

- July 12 - NY Midgets lost in the finals of the
Oshawa tournament 2-1 to a tough Thornhill Reds AAA
team. AJ pitched another amazing complete game
and limited the Reds to four hits. Andrew T (one
of only five NY baserunners) scored the only run by
walking on base, stealing second, advancing to third
on an Andrew Z groundout, and scoring on a Justin S

- July 12 - Andrew Z became the first NY Midget this
season to play in 30 games.

- July 12 - NY Midgets advanced to the finals of the
Oshawa tournament by defeating Quinte 3-1.
Jerrome pitched one of his best games of the season -
allowing only one walk and five hits. Brendan
entered the game with the tying run on second with one
out - but recorded the final five outs to earn the
save and lower his ERA to 0.30. Andrew T's
triple to the wall in the 6th inning scored Broidy
from first base for the go-ahead run.

- July 11 - NY Midgets advanced to the semi-finals
of the Oshawa tournament for the 5th consecutive year.

- July 11 - Andrew T pitched an amazing complete
game 2-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Mississauga North
17u. The score was 0-0 after 6 1/2 innings when
rain/hail postponed the game in Bowmanville at 8:00pm.
The game was resumed in Pickering at 9:15pm with Robin
getting on base and being sacrificed to second by
Harrison. With two out and Andrew Z pinch
running, Justin N hit an RBI single up the middle to
end the marathon day and earn a 1-0 victory.

- July 10 - AJ pitched a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings
against Pickering before giving up a double in the
first game of the Oshawa tournament. NY won the
game 3-1.
-
- July 9 - Thomas pitched five shutout innings,
facing only two batters over the minimum, in an 8-3
victory over York. This was the NY Midgets first
scheduled 9-inning game of the season. All
sixteen players were present - for only the second
time this season.

- July 5 - Coach Brandon manned first base in his
first coaching appearance of the season. His
strategies and key coaching tips
helped the NY Midgets build an early 11-0 lead in the
second game of the double-header.

- July 5 - Harrison had four plate appearances in
two games - and was walked three times and hit by
pitch - raising his on-base percentage to .414% - the
fourth highest on the team

- July 5 - Brendan spent the morning in Dublin,
Ireland - and the night at the NY Midgets second game
of a double-header against High Park17. The NY
Midgets won both games - 12-9 and 11-4.

- July 4 - The TBA Allstars finished with a 2-3
record in the 3rd annual Toronto Mets tournament.
AJ pitched the Allstars' final game - throwing a
six-inning complete game shutout - and giving up only
three hits and one walk in a 11-0 victory over the
Oakville Royals 18u of the PBLO.

- June 28 - Jake Mooney returned to the NY Midgets
18u to pitch two innings in a game against the Ontario
Women. Jake also homered in his first at-bat in
more than eight months. Thomas and Andrew T also
connected for homeruns before the game was canceled
after three innings due to field conditions.

rivalry' games - when Chris batted against his younger
sister Tylin. Chris was 0-2 with two flyouts and
a hit-by-pitch.

batted against his older brother David Mooney (who was
a callup for a shorthanded High Park team). In
2008, Mitch Sutton pitched to and batted against his
younger brother Sean - who was playing for the Toronto
Mets. Earlier this year, Dean Macandog pitched
to his younger brother Daniel Macandog in an
exhibition game against the NY Minor Midgets.

- June 5 - AJ was featured in the
Town Crier! Although his high school team
lost in the finals, AJ pitched the semi-final game and
struck out seventeen (17) batters in a complete-game
no-hitter.

- June 4 - NY Midgets gave up nine runs in the 7th
inning to lose 13-6 against a driven High Park team.

- June 4 - High School results: Andrew Z (lost
in Tier 1 South finals), Andrew M (lost in Tier 2
South finals), Justin N (eliminated from OFFSA with
1-2 record), Robin & Chris (advance to Prentice Cup
final four). Well done overall!

batters, hit five batters with a pitch, gave up one
hit, and made eight errors in a 9-3 loss to York.

unofficial retirement of active NY Midget player
Brendan Lynch ('07-'08). An arm injury
sustained in the winter will prevent Brendan from
starting the season with the Midget team.
Brendan threw four complete games last season and he
holds the NY Midget record for strikeouts in a game
with thirteen (13). Mid-season comeback?

Midget team: a new catcher's glove, a new
catcher's mask, new catcher's pads, a new catcher's
chest protector, a new helmet, new practice baseballs,
and three new bats.
